THE POWER OF UPPER CERVICAL CHIROPRACTIC - Meet Dr. Ken Abreu
Dr. Ken Abreu graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in February 2010 with honours, Magna Cum Laude, a Certificate of Merit in Academic Radiology and Clinical Intern Award for being Above and Beyond!
My Chiropractic Story
At the age of 20, it is not normal if you can’t put on your socks! The things that we may take for granted are the things that we can do before an injury. After a low back injury from snowboarding, I had a difficult time putting my socks on as I had difficulty bending forward to touch my feet. I had taken for granted my ability to move and take care of myself. I know this sounds strange from a 20 year old athlete but over the next several months I felt like I was trapped in my body.
Why I am a Chiropractor
My “ah ha” moment came at the age of 23 as I was explaining to a Rehabilitation Specialist Doctor what I had experienced over the past 3 years since my first back injury. The doctor looked at me and said “what do you want to do?” My answer was get a chiropractic adjustment! My career and life path changed at that moment as I knew that chiropractic was the right answer for me and for people with back injuries.
In my first trimester at Palmer College of Chiropractic I listened to an experienced NUCCA Chiropractor share the miracles of patients in his office. I was very inspired by the power of upper cervical chiropractic and the NUCCA procedure. I started to read the about NUCCA, attending the NUCCA club, the NUCCA electives, the NUCCA conferences and eventually visited several NUCCA chiropractors in their practices to learn more about the NUCCA chiropractic.

My Unique Perspective
Ever wonder what makes a chiropractor unique? Let me share with you what I see and how I do it. This is the so called "secret formula" that most people often coveted and are unwilling to share with others. The truth of the matter is my understanding of the structure (anatomy) and function (physiology) of the human body and my ability to detect and correct the cause of the problem is what makes my perspective unique. Let me elaborate and simplify it for you. I first studied Kinesiology to grasp the concepts of how the body moves. I then studied X-Ray Technology to see what the bones and joints look like when they are still. I then proceeded to chiropractic to learn how the incredible human body works and to harness the skill of putting a joint in motion that was stuck in place. Since seeing thousands of x-rays and understanding the unique and powerful design of the upper cervical spine biomechanics and neurology, I naturally gravitated my focus on helping people by correcting the misalignment at the top of the neck.
